Royal fans 'obsessed with Duchess of Cambridge’s hair' – how to achieve 'gorgeous' curls

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended The Royal Variety Performance 2021 at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, where artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sir Rod Stewart, James Blunt, Anne-Marie, and Cirque du Soleil performed. For the occasion, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a floor-length green Jenny Packham dress, after previously wearing the same gown to Pakistan in 2019. The shimmery long dress, covered in sequins, featured long sleeves and strategically placed crystals on the bodice, waist and cuffs. The Duchess combined the outfit with green Emma London stilettos and a matching Jenny Packham clutch.

The ‘Couture And Royals’ Twitter account added: “Obsessed with The Duchess of Cambridge’s hair and makeup tonight.

“There is just a word right now that comes to mind: GLAM!”

Erica Burnand, a Hairdressing Technical Expert, spoke to Express.co.uk about how to achieve Kate’s “gorgeous” curls.

She said: “It takes a lot of work to get your hair to look the way Kate’s does.

“She has her hair professionally coloured and it takes a lot of styling to achieve that look.

DON’T MISS:

“For Kate, I would recommend using smoothing and oil-based products and a good quality bristle brush when blow-drying, to get the smooth shiny look she has.

“Once the hair is dry, heated rollers or a curling tong or wand can be used to really perfect her hair’s trademark bounce.

“To keep the hair in good condition to achieve the smooth and defined curls that Kate loves, the hair must be protected from the heated styling equipment, by using a thermal heat protecting product.”

Jessica Patching, a Hair Stylist and Founder of Marla Hair, also commented to Express.co.uk about how to achieve Kate’s look.

She added: “My advice on perfecting Kate’s hairstyle would be to keep colouring soft and of a similar depth to your own natural hair.

“Think of enhancements rather than changes.

“With styling your hair, make sure to keep the waves and flexible so the natural look comes across.”

Sarah McKenna, Hair Stylist and Founder of Vixen & Blush, also added her expertise on the subject.

She said: “Hair extensions have become a lot more popular and have come a long way from the early 2000s.

“We would always have clients bringing in photos of Kate Middleton asking if she had hair extensions in as her hair looked so perfect all the time.

“Her soft effortless wave is still requested a lot to this day when styling.

“She looks after her hair and does not over-process with colour.

“This helps to give a healthy-looking shine and not take away from the glossy natural-looking locks.

“We apply extensions to enhance colour for our clients so that they do not need to damage and lose the condition of their own healthy hair.

“This in turn keeps them looking very natural and effortless.”
