The Deep History Coast in North Norfolk is home to Britain’s earliest evidence of humans. With history dating back a millions of years, the Deep History Coast covers 36km from Weybourne to Cart Gap.
Sheringham lies at the Weybourne end of the coast and has been named on the list of the best seaside towns in the country.
The traditional seaside resort of Sheringham evolved from an old fishing village.
With plenty to do and see, the town is a popular holiday destination in North Norfolk.
Sheringham Beach is a Blue Flag beach with plenty of sand at low tide.
At high tide, the beach is pebbly, but holidaymakers can still make the most of it by going on a walk along the promenade.

The promenade of Sheringham is lined by colourful beach huts and forms part of the Norfolk Coast Path.
In town, museum lovers can go to Sheringham Museum at the Mo, which tells the story of Sheringham and its people.

The Fisherman’s Lifeboat Museum was previously known as the Fishermen’s Heritage Centre, and “scribes the history of the two lifeboats provided by the Upcher family of Sheringham Hall, the family itself and the fishermen who crewed these boats”.
Former actor and army officer turned shell artist Peter Coke is celebrated in Sheringham with the Peter Coke Shell Gallery.
The gallery has hundreds of shell-art creations donated by the artist to the Sheringham Preservation Society.
Peter B said: “The gallery is beautiful and has some sublime pieces of work.
“It will only take 5-10 minutes to look round but is located in a beautiful village right on a beautiful beach and seafront and is more than worth seeing whilst you enjoy the rest of the beauty of Sheringham which this only adds to!”
The museums and gallery are closed during the winter months.
Sheringham is the headquarter of the North Norfolk Railway, Poppy Line.
The heritage steam railway line runs from Sheringham to Holt and is a popular attraction.

“We really enjoyed our trip from Sheringham to Holt and back. The small museum at Holt is worth a visit.”
Further afield, the National Trust’s Sheringham Park has 1000 acres of woodland, parkland and cliff top to explore.
Climbing the towers at Sheringham Park afford fantastic views of the coast.
Sheringham also hosts many events throughout the year, with Carnival, the Viking Festival and the Crab and Lobster Festival particularly popular with locals and visitors alike.
