Next James Bond: Marvel star’s odds slashed ‘Every chance 007 bosses take him up on offer’

For the first time in 15 years, the role of James Bond is well and truly up for grabs. With Craig having bowed out in No Time To Die, just who is most likely to replace him? Well according to the latest next 007 odds, one Marvel star has seen his best chances sliced by over three quarters.

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has been way behind the leading pack of next Bond contenders, with his best odds being 66-1.

But in a recent interview with GQ, his co-star shared just how much he talks about wanting to play 007.

The 25-year-old star of six Marvel movies and counting now has odds of 16-1 with Ladbrokes.

A spokesperson for the bookmakers said: “Tom Holland’s name is on everyone’s lips in Hollywood right now, and with the Spider-Man star seemingly more than open to a stint as Bond, there’s every chance 007 chiefs take him up on his offer.”

Ahead of the keen Holland is McMafia’s James Norton on 8-1 and Game of Thrones’ Tom Hopper on 5-1.

But leading the pack at 4-1 apiece is Venom star Tom Hardy, Bridgerton heartthrob Regé-Jean Page and Eternals lead Richard Madden.

During the promotional tour for No Time To Die, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson batted away questions about Craig’s replacement.

They’ve said they want to focus on the outgoing star’s finale, however, they have spilt a few beans.

To date, there have been six actors cast to officially play Bond and they are Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

The audition process involves shooting a scene from the new movie’s script, but also a classic one in Connery’s second 007 movie From Russia With Love.

The scene sees Bond undress and get into a towel before entering a room holding a gun, where he approaches a woman in bed.

The last time auditions took place, Craig beat a 21-year-old Henry Cavill to the role before he became Superman.
