GB News guest erupts at host and co-panellist in vitriolic slapdown 'You're both pathetic'

Jon Gaunt has called GB News host Dan Wootton and panellist Laurence Fox “pathetic”, saying he is “absolutely astonished” by their reaction to the Christmas ad. Tesco has been facing calls for a boycott from anti-vaxxers taking issue with the supermarket chain choosing to include a vaccine passport-holding Santa Clause in their traditional television ad.

Presenter Dan Wootton asked: “You know that vaccine passports are highly controversial, very political.

“Why on earth is Tesco trying to say to folk like Lawrence and myself who are so opposed to these things that we’re not part of their campaign?”

Jon Gaunt said: “Well, both of you should stop being so precious.

“I mean, you’re the people who’ve been saying, ‘we don’t want things cancelled’.

“You’re always up on your soapbox, and I largely agree with you.

“And it’s Christmas not April Fool.”

He went on: “I can’t believe that Lawrence is getting his knickers in a twist about this.

“And Tesco will remind you are not chosen by the Government, they’re owned by their shareholders and indeed their customers who go there.

“You’re both absolutely pathetic getting wound up about this.

“And in terms of the Covid passport, Father Christmas is clearly a joke, isn’t it?

“Like we have in lots of these adverts for Christmas.

“If you don’t like it, don’t shop there. Fair enough.”

He added: “But the idea that you two who are the king of anti-cancel now want to cancel this.

“You make me laugh! You’re both pathetic!”

Tesco shoppers who are anti-vaxxers have vowed to ‘boycott’ Tesco after the supermarket giant featured a fully vaccinated Santa in its Christmas advert.

The scene in question is when Father Christmas shows up to Border Control with his Covid passport with a green tick and the word ‘vaccinated’.

It has sparked a mass backlash on social media.
