GAME and Argos get new challenger as best place to buy a PS5 in the UK

It’s been a year since the PS5 first launched, and the latest PlayStation console from Sony is still hard to come by. There have been countless occasions where PS5 restocks have been snapped up in a flash, but throughout the ongoing stock shortage there have been two clear-cut shining stars – GAME and Argos. Both GAME and Argos have got regular restocks in 2021 which last longer than its peers, with numerous people taking to sites like Twitter in the aftermath of stock drops expressing their joy at finally bagging a PS5 console.

However, while GAME and Argos have long reigned supreme on the PlayStation 5 stock front they’ve got a new contender which could become the go-to-place for PS5 orders.

That’s PlayStation Direct, which launched in Europe last week – after gamers in the US have long enjoyed the service – and at the start of this week the PlayStation Direct website took orders for the PS5 for the first time in the UK. The restock went live around 10am UK time on Monday with both the PlayStation 5 Disc and Digital consoles available to buy, priced at £449.99 and £359.99 respectively. A queue was launched for those hoping to buy a PlayStation 5 with PlayStation Direct, with thousands of people getting in line to purchase the in-demand console.

This is surely the first of many PlayStation Direct PS5 restocks on the horizon, and if you’re hoping to buy a PS5 on this Sony website there are a few things you need to know.

Firstly, due to high demand there will be a limit of one order per customer.

Also, in order to purchase an item from PlayStation Direct you need to be signed in with your PlayStation account.

If you have a PS Plus membership you’ll also be eligible for free standard shipping.

The first ever PlayStation Direct UK stock drop came at the start of the week where both GAME and Argos could open orders once again for the PS5.

According to the ever reliable @PS5StockAlertUK stock tracker account, a “massive” PS5 restock at Argos could go live between November 18 and 19.

The in-the-know PS5 stock source tweeted: “PlayStation 5 (Argos) Exclusive News.

“A massive #PS5 drop is expected by Argos around 18th-19th Nov. Multiple shipments have been received, both Disc & Digital Editions, making it the largest PS5 drop by Argos since launch. Should be an 8am drop, as usual, in-store & online.”

Elsewhere, a GAME PS5 restock could also be going live between November 16 and 19.

On Friday the PS5 stock tracker posted: “PlayStation 5 (GAME) News

“The release date of PS5 consoles has been updated to 25/11, indicating a stock drop at some point next week. We’ll let you know once we find out the priority orders delivery date which will give us a better indication of what the drop day could be.”
