What Jets should want to be just smacked them in the mouth

The Jets lost yet another game that wasn’t even competitive after halftime.

This is becoming a habit, an ominous sign for rookie head coach Robert Saleh’s team-build. Sunday’s 45-17 defeat, which dropped the Jets to 2-7, was the fifth loss they have suffered in which the game’s result had been cemented in the first half.

On this chilly afternoon at MetLife Stadium, the Jets looked across the field and saw a team they want to be in the 6-3 Bills, who have the No. 1-ranked defense in the NFL, a franchise quarterback in Josh Allen (who passed for 366 yards), strong skill-position players and a seasoned, well-organized coaching staff.

And how Sunday’s game played out was sobering evidence of just how far away they are from the Bills, who lead the AFC East and appear to be on the verge of unseating the Patriots as perennial kings of the division.
