NYC boy hospitalized after falling nine stories

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized after falling nine stories from his apartment window in The Bronx on Friday, police said.

The tot slipped out at around 5:45 p.m., through an opening cops believe had previously housed an air conditioning unit in NYCHA’s Forest Houses on Trinity Ave near E. 165th Street in Morrisania, the NYPD said.

The boy’s mother and an 11-year-old girl were present at the time. He was taken to Harlem hospital in critical condition, but was expected to survive, police said.

Neighbors told News 12 they heard the mom screaming “Help, my son fell out of the window.”

First responders to arrive had to use a bolt cutter to get through a fence and into an enclosed area where the child had fallen.

“It’s heartbreaking,” neighbor Theresa Marti told the outlet. “Just to be a parent and to scream out ‘Help, my baby fell out the window.’”
