Steven Gerrard explains his decision to quit Rangers to become new Aston Villa boss

The former England international’s first task in the west Midlands will be to stem the team’s run of poor form when they return to action later this month.

The Villains have lost their last five Premier League matches and have fallen to 16th-place in the table.

Villa are just two points off the drop zone and could be pulled into a relegation scrap if they don’t reverse their fortunes quickly.

Gerrard’s side host Brighton on Saturday, November 20, before facing a trip to Crystal Palace a week later.

And they will be desperate for points in those encounters, with clashes against Manchester City, Leicester City and Liverpool set to follow at the start of December.
