Donald Trump laughs as crowd sings ‘Let’s go Brandon’ and gives stinging verdict on jibe

Donald Trump addressed the crowds at an America First Policy Insitute event where he discussed Joe Biden’s “failed presidency” during a 45-minute rant to a baying crowd. As Mr Trump made reference to Mr Biden’s gaffe-laden meeting with the Pope, the crowd began chanting the “Let’s go Brandon” meme which has been adopted by Republicans as a slur of the US President. Mr Trump addressed the chant publically for the first time, remarking the journalist behind the meme “knew what she was doing” before explaining he prefered the explicit version more.

The “Let’s go Brandon” meme has erupted over recent weeks after an unfortunate mishap from NBC Sports correspondent Kelli Stavast went viral.

In an interview with NASCAR driver Brandon Brown, she incorrectly believed the crowd were chanting “Let’s go Brandon” over his victory.

But as the microphone was directed towards spectators, it became clear they were instead chanting “F*** Joe Biden”.

The “Let’s go Brandon” chant then became a subtle and clean nod to the rude chorus with critics of Mr Biden using it to get past media censors.

Speaking at the event, Mr Trump told audiences: “Now our leaders are a laughing stock all over the world.

“We just saw what happened to Joe Biden when he went to see the Pope, what the hell happened to him? Does anybody know? Don’t say it…”

The crowd then began shouting “Let’s go Brandon” with Mr Trump laughing at the audience.

The singing became louder with Mr Trump saying: “I still haven’t figured out, was that young, attractive female reporter, was she trying to cover up or was she being nice and did not understand what was happening?

Loza Alexander produced the song and published it on TikTok where it quickly went viral.

The rapper then created a music video to go with the song and published it over a week ago on his YouTube page.

Since then, it has been watched 1.5 million times.

In his rap segment, Mr Alexander includes the lines: “Tried to cover up, but tell the people, go Brandon.

“But we know what they saying, though.

“You can hear thе chant in every post. Don’t nobody want this commie causе we not in China.”

On his Twitter account, Mr Alexander claimed he has been subject to threats by TikTok who want to remove the original video as it breaks their terms on harassment and bullying.
