Recent reports from North Korea state the nation’s dictator has been removing portraits of his father and grandfather to emphasise his rule as a divine leader. Jong-un, 37, has even been referred to as “Great Leader”, which was previously only used to describe Kim Il-sung – Jong-un’s grandfather.
According to a South Korea’s spy agency, the term “Kimjongunism” has now been used in governmental circles.
However, national North Korea media are yet to use the new term.
The agency has also reported images of the current leader’s father, Kim Jong-Il, and grandfather, Kim Il-sung, have been removed in official buildings in the capital of Pyongyang.
Fyodor Tertitskiy, a North Korea expert at Kookmin University in Seoul, wrote on the website NK News explaining Jong-Un’s actions.

Kim Il-sung, Jong-un’s grandfather coined the term “Kimilsungism” in the 1970s when the former Soviet Union was rejecting the idea of personality cults.
Following “Kimilsungism”, state media in the nation embraced “Kimilsungism-kimjongilism” after Kim Jong-il began emerging as the successor.
Kim Jong-un’s predecessors also have flowers named after them, making many wonder if the current leader will receive the honour as well.
The Kimilsungia is a purple orchid bred in the late leader’s honour in 1969.
While the Kimjongilia is a begonia which was bred by a Japanese botanist in 1988.
