Brandin Cooks likely staying with Texans after ‘bulls–t’ trade complaint

Unhappy as Brandin Cooks is with the Texans, he’ll likely be staying in Houston.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that, despite Cooks calling the Texans’ Mark Ingram trade “bulls–t” on Twitter this week, Houston wants to build around Cooks as opposed to shopping him.

The 28-year old Cooks entered Sunday with 502 receiving yards on 45 receptions for Houston, which plays the Rams. The Texans traded for him prior to the 2020 season, giving up a second-round pick.

Houston, which is 1-6 going into Sunday, traded Ingram to the Saints this week. He had struggled with the Texans with just 3.2 yards per carry, but that didn’t stop Cooks from being upset.

“This is bulls–t. Such a joke,” Cooks tweeted.

That prompted some speculation that Cooks might not be long for Houston. But, although general manager Nick Caserio is reportedly always open to discussing a deal, Cooks isn’t someone he’s looking to shop.

The NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday. Between Cooks and Deshaun Watson, it seems like the Texans are out on any potential blockbusters, but those situations are always volatile.
