He added: “Eggs are like magic for baking though. It’s so hard to bake without eggs.”
Dan explained: “Baking vegan is like learning to bake all over again. It’s very difficult, it’s hard to replicate the same textures or lightness.”
“I actually didn’t think Freya could ever win because she made things far too difficult for herself,” the baker confessed.
“It’s a shame that she received criticism for not using all vegan products. She had no option, she couldn’t have made a vegan option for the technical challenge because the judges would have known immediately that it was hers because the recipe was different,” Dan concluded.
