Adam Peaty opens up on Strictly ‘struggles’ after emotional rehearsal visit

Strictly Come Dancing Adam Peaty and partner Katya Jones performed the Samba this week and had heads turning from everyone. However, whilst looking comfortable and confident on stage, Adam was seen opening up to his nan about the struggles he faces when it comes to a new Monday and learning a whole new routine.

Whilst rehearsing in the studio with Katya, Adam’s nan Mavis and Aunt Donna pay them a visit to see how they were getting on.

Coming into the studio, Mavis says: “Hello, hello, hello,” and a surprised Adam answers: “You alright nan, how are you doing?”

Speaking to the camera, Adam revealed: “My nan has always supported me, she’s been my number one fan for so long and now she’s a huge fan of what I’m doing on Strictly Come Dancing.”

After showing them a snippet of their routine, Katya asked Mavis: “How does it compare the expectation of Adam’s dancing to what you actually saw on TV.”

“He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be,” she proudly answers making Adam laugh,

He then admitted: “I tell you what I struggle with nan, I struggle with the Monday’s, learning the routine.”

But that didn’t stop Mavis from believing in her grandson, as she replied: “You can only do your best, he always does his best in everything he does and I’m very proud of you.”

Adam’s Samba performance left fan’s wildly distracted as his costume of double denim jeans and jacket seemed to cause quite the stir.

Ahead of Saturday’s live show, one in three Strictly Come Dancing elimination bets with bookmakers Ladbrokes are in favour of Ugo Monye leaving the show this weekend.

Adam’s odds at being eliminated this weekend stand at 14/1, meaning he could be sticking around for a few more weeks.

Ugo Monye’s odds are at 4/7 of being “favourite” to be booted from the BBC competition this weekend, despite not performing last weekend due to missing out because of an injury.

Following closely behind is BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker with odds of 4/1 with Tilly Ramsey at 5/4 and Sara Davies at 12/1.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Money talks, and punters want rid of Dan.

“But his fiercely loyal fanbase from BBC Breakfast may have something else to say about him leaving the show this weekend.”

Strictly Come Dancing bets with bookmakers Ladbrokes put EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis as “favourite” to win this year’s competition with odds at 11/10.

Following closely behind is former Bake Off winner star John Whaite with odds of 5/1 and AJ Odudu with odds of winning at 5/1.

Last week Rose impressed the judges with her performance of the Cha Cha Cha and scored an impressive 27.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “All eyes will be on Rose and Giovanni’s romantic Viennese Waltz this weekend, especially after his split from Maura Higgins.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Sunday at 7.15pm.
