Terrifying video shows the moment an “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” contestant is crushed between two cars during rehearsal.
Jonathan Goodwin, 41, was supposed narrowly slip between two cars suspended 70 feet in the air as they swing toward him and drop onto a mattress below.
But a stomach-turning, 10-second clip obtained by TMZ shows the timing was off in the daredevil feat — resulting in Goodwin getting sandwiched by the cars as they explode.
Goodwin, who was filming the stunt for the heart-racing spinoff of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” then fell to the ground after being struck by the cars, hitting his head — which the clip does not show, TMZ said.
He was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery.
His current condition is not known.
The harrowing scene left some crew members believing he was killed, TMZ reported.
It’s unclear what exactly went wrong and who was at fault for the nearly deadly blunder.
A rep for the show previously confirmed the incident in a statement.
“During a rehearsal last evening for ‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme,’ an accident occurred in which escape artist Jonathan Goodwin was injured while performing his act,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “He was responsive and was immediately taken to the hospital where he is continuing to receive medical care.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as we await further updates on his condition.”
“AGT: Extreme” began filming its first season earlier this month.
According to an NBC press release, the series “will showcase the most outrageous, unique and jaw-dropping acts of enormous scale and magnitude.”
The Welsh stuntman is no stranger to performing dangerous TV stunts, appearing on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2019.
In 2020, Goodwin reached the semifinals of “America’s Got Talent.” In one stunt, he caught fire as he attempted to release himself from a pair of handcuffs.
