Date night! Joe and Jill head for dinner at Italian seafood restaurant Fiola Mare in Washington DC 

President Joe Biden and his wife Jill enjoyed an Italian seafood dinner at a Michelin-starred Washington DC restaurant on Saturday evening. 

The Bidens dressed up for what the White House dubbed as a ‘date night’ at Fiola Mare in Washington Harbor.

The couple looked loved up and held hands as they made their way into the restaurant, followed by secret service downed in black suits and black face masks. 

They had earlier attended church at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown.   

The date came on ‘Sweetest Day’ – a holiday celebrated in the Midwest and Florida to celebrate romantic deeds and expressions.

The restaurant describes its cuisine as ‘inspired by Italy’s coastlines and the bounty of its most pristine seafood.’ 

It was not revealed what the First Couple ordered, but main courses at the restaurant include the $75 ‘acquerello risotto al tartufo’, which includes three grams of shaved truffles; and $85 ‘Australian wagyu rossini.

 For desert, a campfire sundae costs $16, while a two-person sharing of grand chocolate cake costs $32.

The menu also offers Royal Oscietra caviar for $250 an ounce.

The President wore a royal blue suit with a pinstriped blue and white button-down shirt and a light blue surgical mask for the dinner date. 

The First Lady went for a monochrome look with a black trench coat adorned with simple buttons and slingback stiletto heels. 

She accessorized with a shiny, black, pouch-like bag, blown-out wavy hair, and a black surgical mask.  

And restaurantgoers were quick to snap sneaky pictures of the President and his date, surrounded by secret service agents, and post them to social media. 

The Georgetown restaurant features fresh, daily caught seafood from all over the food, including from the Mediterranean waters of Italy. 

Biden waved at fans and photographers as he exited the restaurant with his mask in his hands, his wife trailing behind him. 

The pair enjoyed the dinner after attending the 40th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service in DC earlier in the day, where they gather to honor slain officers. 

Biden spoke on the steps of the US Capitol, remembering the 491 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2019 and 2020.

Biden underscored the heavy burden placed on law enforcement officers, and rebuked the ‘defund the police’ political movement popular within his own party, saying that those gathered before him would get ‘more resources, not fewer, so you can do your job.’  

‘We expect you to be everything,’ Biden said in a speech in front of the U.S. Capitol, mourning 491 law enforcement officers who died at work in 2019 and 2020. ‘Being a cop today is one hell of a lot harder than it’s ever been.’

Standing where a violent mob tried to block his own ascension to the presidency on January 6, Biden singled out the 150 officers who were injured in the attack and the five who have died since.

He declared ‘because of you, democracy survived.’

‘Nine months ago, your brothers and sisters thwarted an unconstitutional and fundamentally un-American attack on our nation’s values and our votes. Because of you, democracy survived,’ Biden said.

‘Because of these men and women, we avoided a catastrophe, but their heroism came at a cost to you and your families.’
