NYC grocery store worker slashed by box cutter-wielding shoplifter: cops

A worker at a Queens supermarket was slashed by a box cutter-wielding man who was suspected of shoplifting, police said.

The 45-year-old victim was cut in the throat and cheek after confronting the man about allegedly stealing a necklace from Liberty Farm on Liberty Ave. in South Ozone Park at about 8 p.m. on Oct. 1, according to cops.

Surveillance footage that captured part of the slashing shows the victim trying to chase his attacker down after the assault.

The suspect managed to run off from the store and was still being sought as of Thursday.

Police did not know if he successfully lifted the necklace.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

The suspect escaped after the incident, as NYPD has been on the lookout for him.
