Bobby Flay is bidding an Irish goodbye to the Food Network. After 27 years, the celebrity chef is chopping ties with the culinary channel.
Flay, 56, recently sealed a three-year deal with the Discovery-owned company, however, those negotiations are now reportedly dead, according to Variety.
A source close to Food Network revealed to the publication that the “decision has been made to move on as the sides were far apart on financial terms.”
The Post has reached out to both the network and the fourth-generation Irish-American chef, restaurateur and cookbook author for comment.
Flay, who famously dropped out of high school at 17 to pursue a kitchen career, has been part of the popular cable cooking channel since its early days in 1994 — and became a household name while starring in a string of his own eponymous shows.
The native New Yorker — his catchphrase is “the city is my kitchen” — has starred in series such as “Bobby and Giada in Italy,” “Beat Bobby Flay,” “Brunch at Bobby’s,” “Chopped,” “Iron Chef America,” “Worst Cooks in America,” “The Next Food Network Star Is…” and “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” Flay also fronted the series “The Flay List” with his daughter Sophie.
Aside from hosting numerous cooking shows across the decades, the 1983 graduate of the NYC French Culinary Institute was named Rising Star Chef of the Year by the James Beard Foundation at the age 27 for his work at he now-closed Mesa Grill in NYC — and was inducted as a member of the “Who’s Who of Cooking in America” by the foundation in 2007.
In 2015, the rumored ladies’ man earned the pop culture distinction of being the first-ever chef to have his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In addition to his former Gato restaurant in New York City — which closed as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold on March 15, 2020, the Daytime Emmy Award winner still owns several eateries across America in areas such as Long Island, Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
Flay also has written many best-selling cookbooks, including “Bobby Flay’s Bold American Food,” “Bobby Flay’s Grilling For Life,” “Bobby Flay’s Throwdown!” and “Bobby at Home: Fearless Flavors from My Kitchen.”
