'Make tent homely': Campers share tips to brave wild weather camping – 'I love it!'

Camping is a popular activity in all weather. With the autumn finally arrived and wild weather up and down the country, camping Britons have more to contend with than putting up their tent.

“But there was water all round the outside of our tent.”

Lindsay mentioned she’d go back to the Lakes for a camping trip, but in better weather.

Wendy Hilling thought she was just unlucky.

She said: “Never had weather like this in the four years we’ve lived 40 minutes from Windermere.”

DON’T MISS

Lindsay, however, was not completely put off camping by her very wet experience.

She said: “The weather hasn’t put us off either because we made the inside of the tent homely.

“We can’t wait for our next camping trip, maybe next year now.”

Claire Donkin agreed it was probably better to wait until spring or summer.

Jean-Henry Hardy wrote: “It’s blowing well and hammering down outside.

“I’m putting my waterproof overalls, wellies and welly socks on and grabbing my tarp to sleep out. I love it.”

Faye Withanhe replied: “Wish I was doing the same.”

Jean Cullen was a fan too: “We camped last year in a thunderstorm. It was amazing, we loved it.”

And Graham Cane said: “No such thing as bad weather, only bad equipment.”
