'F*** her': Bob Arum SLAMS presenter Kate Abdo for her performance in Fury-Wilder press conference

Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum slammed British TV presenter Kate Abdo for trying to arrange a face-off between the Gypsy King and Deontay Wilder in the boxing duo’s press conference before Saturday’s fight.

The Gypsy King and the Bronze Bomber will fight each other in the ring for their Las Vegas trilogy bout on Saturday and took part in a press conference on Wednesday night as part of the build-up to the clash.

But Arum, who is Fury’s promoter in the United States, took an issue with Abdo, who was hosting the press conference, for trying to get the pair to square up on stage, and also criticised her for apparently showing favouritism to American boxer Wilder.

Fury and Wilder, who have squared up to each other in previous press conferences, were preparing to face-off once again after Abdo suggested so, with the Gypsy King even putting down his microphone in preparation for the stand-off.

But Abdo stopped in her tracks while finishing her presenting job on the press conference and said: ‘No, I apologise, we’re not going to do it (the face-off), no. Bob Arum says no.’

Arum was heard shouting from the press conference audience: ‘Not a good idea!’

The American lawyer and boxing promoter was then caught making an expletive rant about Abdo after the press conference had ended.

‘They bring this woman in from the UK and she’s slanting all the press conference to Wilder,’ Arum shouted. ‘Like I don’t give a damn, but it’s obvious what she was doing!

‘And then, she knew that the understanding was: no face-off. Tom Brown argued with Fox, no face-off. We said, “No face-off”. What does she say? “Now we’re going to do a face-off?”

‘F*** her. And f*** them. There was no face-off and we saved the fight.’

Manchester-born broadcaster Abdo is a familiar face in the sports broadcasting world, having fronted Sky Sports’ European football shows, pay-per-view boxing coverage and transfer deadline day programmes.

She then moved to Fox Sports to cover their European and English domestic cup coverage, while she also presented the American company’s Women’s World Cup programmes in 2015.

The 40-year-old has also presented several FIFA Ballon D’Or ceremonies and currently fronts NBC’s Champions League coverage and DAZN’s boxing shows. She is known for conducting and translating live interviews in multiple languages.

Wednesday’s press conference between Fury and Wilder saw sparks fly once again, with the Gypsy King calling the American boxer ‘weak’ after allegations over the Briton tampering with his boxing gloves during their second fight emerged again.

‘There’s something I need to say,’ Fury said on Wednesday. ‘Wilder said I only won the second fight because I cheated, but then he changes his whole team, trains as hard as he ever has.

‘I ask, if I only won because I cheated, what was the point of changing everything? No one can answer, so have egg in your face.

‘He says he wants to do bad things to me and hurt me, for those who hold a hot coal with the intention of throwing it at somebody, they are the ones who get burned. I don’t want to hurt Deontay Wilder, I just want to beat him in a fight.

‘Guess what, after this fight you (Wilder) will be back at the fast food chain you were working at early in your career.’

‘I knocked you out dosser,’ Fury continued as the allegations were brought up again. ‘Jay Deas (part of Wilder’s team) – was he in on it too? He was in the room when I put the gloves on! I don’t need to defend titles, that’s for dossers like you.

‘You have come dressed like a tramp, dressed like me on a training day. You will only be remembered for getting knocked out by me. You are a loser and are being trained by a loser, so that makes two losers.’

Wilder, meanwhile, admitted he did not need to take on Fury for financial reasons and that his family are not concerned with the amount of fighting he is doing at the moment.

‘I don’t have to fight another day in my life,’ Wilder said. ‘I am good – can you (Fury) say the same thing? Nervous energy.

‘My family have an understanding, my children have an understanding, that daddy has a dangerous job – no other sport has claimed as many lives as boxing, they understand.’
