By 5pm this afternoon, more than 70,000 people had reported WhatsApp outages to Downdetector.co.uk.
The outages are worldwide, with ABC America reporting that ‘millions’ of U.S. users experiencing the same issues.
AppleInsider suggest the issue is a ‘DNS problem’, standing for Domain Name System, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Other sources are asking whether this could be the ‘biggest hack in history.’
Some have even questioned the timing of this outage, following Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen revealing her identity earlier today.
