Arsenal star Bukayo Saka limps off after heavy tackle in Brighton clash

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was withdrawn from the Gunners’ goalless draw with Brighton during the dying minutes after picking up an injury that will worry boss Mikel Arteta and England manager Gareth Southgate.

Saka has been one of Arsenal’s brightest players this season but there are now fears that the 20-year-old will be set for a spell on the sidelines.

Saka looked in pain as he hit the turf following a heavy tackle from a Brighton opponent.

The Arsenal physio raced onto the pitch and helped the attacker limp off, where he was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Saka is due to link up with Southgate’s England squad next week ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers and they will be hoping for a positive injury diagnosis.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were unable to find the breakthrough against Brighton and were held to a goalless draw.

And BT Sport pundit Jack Wilshere feels his former side Arsenal will be disappointed.

He said: “It’s easy to be motivated for a north London derby, it’s one of the biggest games of the season for Arsenal, for the fans, for the staff everyone knows it.

“It’s more difficult to come here and motivate yourself, but you have to do it.

“Second half they were better, threatened on the counter, bit more compact, I think Lacazette made a difference when he come on, few nice touches and dropped in to allow for the runners.

“It’s Arsenal, they have quality in the forward positions and were a threat but I thought we were brilliant.

“As a club we have said we want to be a top 10 club at some point. Everything we did in the build up was good and I thought we controlled it.”
