Maybe this will be the one that saves … Oasis.
Liam Gallagher announced on Friday that a new solo album, “C’mon You Know,” is on the way in 2022 — just in time for a somewhat belated tribute to Oasis, the group that launched him and brother Noel into one of rock music’s most notorious rivalries (despite being in the same band).
It also marks the 25th anniversary of their spectacular, two-night concert series at England’s Knebworth Park in August 1996.
The historic show — which quickly followed the global release of their seminal record “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” — was also just released as a full-length feature documentary, including performances from Knebworth and interviews with the band.
The new record is slated for release on May 27, 2022. Later, the artist is expected to perform some of the new material, returning to Knebworth on June 4, 2022.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to announce that on June 4, 2022, I’ll be playing Knebworth Park,” Gallagher said in a statement about the showcase, which also features UK-based artists Kasabian, Michael Kiwanuka, Fat White Family and Goat Girl.
“It’s gonna be biblical,” he added.
In the meantime, fans can preorder “C’mon You Know” on Liam’s website. Those who do so by 3 p.m. on Oct. 6 will also have access to pre-sale tickets for the 2022 Knebworth show, with those advance tix becoming available at 10 a.m. on Oct. 7.
Some excited — and dubious — fans are already speculating how the 25th-anniversary concert will go down.
“It’s only going to be biblical if Noel’s there, you’ve never done anything solo that could be described as biblical, get over yourself,” said one critic.
“plz noel come pleaseeeee,” pleaded a fan.
“What about …you know…Noel?” asked another.
