James Bond producers answer question of female Bond once and for all – and it's bad news

Craig told Radio Times: “The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour.

“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”

Much has been made of the inherent sexism in the classic-era Bond films, reflective of the times in which they were made.

Everyone involved today has been very clear about how that is no longer acceptable, with Broccoli stating: “I think people are coming around — with some kicking and screaming — to accepting that stuff is no longer acceptable. Thank goodness. Bond is a character who was written in 1952 and the first film [Dr. No] came out in 1962. He’s got a long history, and the history of the past is very different to the way he is being portrayed now.”

This has been reflected Lynch’s character and also the involvement of Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
