The Lodoss War ova anime was one of the last truly great story driven anime franchises before anime became big business globally. The tv series was good too, just not as memorable as the ova.
And yeah, as for games, they never got anything super big. I mean there was the game on the SNES that never officially released outside of Japan (excluding emulators) and the Dreamcast diablo style game. Other than that, nobody ever gave the franchise enough proper care and attention.
