And so the wait is finally over, as golf fanatics around the world end the countdown for the sport’s most eagerly anticipated team event; the Ryder Cup is back.
The 43rd installment of the competition had been put on the backburner last season following the disruption to the global sporting schedule caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but now the stage is set at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, as Team Europe bid to defend their crown.
Action gets underway in the early afternoon, BST, as Spanish duo Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm prepare to do battle with Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in the opening foursomes encounter, amid the backdrop of a sea of patriotic red.
