Six-months pregnant mother-to-be found dead, days after baby's father, 21, dies on Tenerife holiday

A pregnant mother-to-be has been found dead, just days after her partner died while on holiday in Tenerife.

Chloe Higgins, 26, who was six months pregnant, was found dead at her home in Limerick, Ireland, on Friday.

Just eight days earlier, her boyfriend Dale Hannon, 21, died suddenly when they were on holiday together on the Spanish island.

The couple, both from Limerick, were pictured smiling together on September 8 in Tenerife, the day before Dale died.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths have not been confirmed. But a Limerick priest during Dale’s funeral service urged young people to reach out for help if they are struggling with their mental health.

Chloe, who is survived by her two daughters Tia and Charley, lived at Sarsfield Barracks, the headquarters of 12th Infantry battalion of the Irish Defence Forces.

A funeral service was held for Dale on Wednesday, while Chloe will be laid to rest on Friday.

A Limerick priest, Father John Walsh, urged young people to reach out for help if they are struggling with their mental health during Dale’s funeral service, reports Live95FM.

He said: ‘Reach out. It’s ok to be vulnerable, it’s ok to not feel the best in our journey in life. But please look around to one another. We are the ones who are left bereft. We are the ones that don’t see his smile, hear his words or his enthusiasm.’

Natalie Coleman posted a tribute on Facebook to the 21-year-old after his funeral.

She wrote: ‘Dale Hannon you got the best send off and it was well deserved. You were one of a kind, you can never be replaced. We will love and miss you so much kid.’

Natalie added: ‘I hope you and Chloe Higgins and baby Olivia are so happy in God’s kingdom.’

‘Condolences to all the Higgins family and Chloe’s two beautiful children,’ said Bernadette Bennett. ‘Just absolutely tragic, spread your wings wide Chloe, they will be filled with loved ones in heaven. RIP beautiful girl.’

Another person wrote: ‘So so sorry that it must come to this, doesn’t seem fair that this much suffering should be realised. Can’t imagine the pain.

‘May Dale be at peace and may it be everlasting. For those left behind may God’s strength give you courage to face every day.’

Hyde Rangers FC, who Dale played for as a teenager, paid tribute to their former player.

‘The club are deeply shocked and saddened at the passing of our former player Dale Hannon. Dale played both schoolboy and junior football with us for years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him,’ said Hyde Rangers FC.

‘We extend our condolences to all his family and friends. May he Rest in Peace.’

Limerick District League said: ‘Deepest condolences to the Hannon family on the sad passing of Dale may he rest in peace.’
