Tom Parker: The Wanted star apologises for not greeting fans amid ongoing health fears

Tom Parker, 33, is currently undergoing treatment for inoperable brain cancer and as a result, he was unable to sign autographs for fans who had queued up outside the Royal Albert Hall yesterday after his band, The Wanted’s charity performance. The singer apologised profusely to his devoted followers as he told of his sadness at not being able to greet fans due to his ill health.

The singer got together with his bandmates Max George, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaren, and Nathan Sykes, alongside other stars to organise the charity event, In My Head, following an inoperable stage 4 glioblastoma (brain tumour) diagnosis in October.

Tom spoke of his Covid fears following his sell-out reunion gig and admitted he was “absolutely overwhelmed” at the response in a video at 1:50am following the gig and was “looking forward to watching the livestream”.

As a crowd gathered outside the venue to chant “We Love Tom” in the hope of meeting him he said on social media: “Wow, what a night, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

“Sorry I couldn’t come out and see you all. Covid Covid… but thank you all for the support. It means so much xx.”

Tom was seen to get visibly emotional on stage as his bandmates wrapped him in a group hug during the show and Max gave him a kiss on the cheek.

The star wiped his eyes as bandmate Siva put an arm around him during the heartwarming show that saw legions of the group’s fans turn out.

Looking dapper in a tan jacket featuring a chocolate collar, Tom appeared to be in high spirits as his best pals gathered around him.

The five-piece put on an ever-stylish display, with Siva, 32, putting his best fashion foot forward in a tan jacket featuring tropical prints.

Former One Direction band member Liam Payne also performed at the event organised to support cancer charities.

Liam added on his social media: “When I heard about what Tom was going through I wanted to reach out to him.

“He’s showing so much strength and courage and I wanted to offer help and support in any way I could.

“My thoughts have been with him a lot and it means the world that I can support him and his fundraising efforts by performing at the show, I can’t wait.”

In October, Tom revealed that he took himself to Accident and Emergency after suffering a seizure in July.

Just six weeks later, the former The Wanted star was rushed to hospital for a second time after suffering another seizure during a family trip to Norwich.

Sharing the news with his 212,000 Instagram followers, Tom emotionally penned at the time: “You know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.

“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.”
