Freeview boost as four new channels are coming to your TV for FREE

Struggling to work out what to watch this weekend? If you get your fix of telly via Freeview, there are four new channels coming your way. The team at Channelbox has announced four new channels launching for Freeview viewers across the UK, including NextUp Comedy, Fido TV, Bite and Billiard TV.

These subscription-free stations bring content across a wide range of genres, such as food, sports comedy and pets. If you fancy tuning in to these new channels, they will all be available to anyone with an aerial, internet-connected TV or set-top box and can be found on channel 271.

It’s worth noting that although everything is free to view it is all supported by adverts so you will have to sit through a certain amount of sponsored messages to enjoy what’s on offer.

Speaking about the changes to Advanced Television, Tanya Kronfli, Channelbox Head of Content and Business Development, said: “We are excited to be part of the FAST (Free Ad-Supported TV) revolution. It is beneficial to content owners as they can distribute and monetise their content very efficiently and cost-effectively. It is also beneficial to the audiences as they now they have access to a completely new range of TV channels which were never available on Freeview before”

Although millions will get access to this new service, there are still a few Freeview fans who remain unable to watch any telly at all.

This is due to the transmitter fire Bilsdale which took out channels back in August. Due to some significant damage, things are taking a long time to get fully back online with a limited number of users still struggling to get services restored.

In its most recent post online Freeview confirmed that engineers have been able to restore some channels to many households by installing temporary transmitter towers at Eston Nab, Arncliffe Wood, and Sutton Bank (near Thirsk), and re-configuring relays in the area.

From 8th September, many more viewers to the south, east and west of Sutton Bank may have some channels available to them if they do an automatic retune. If an automatic retune does not restore any channels unfortunately it is unlikely that you will be able to receive a signal until further transmitter work is completed.
