British tennis superstar Emma Raducana appeared on BBC Breakfast for a chat with presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt about her US Open success. During the live broadcast, the 18-year-old was asked about how she plans to spend her prize money. However, she explained her parents will be “taking care of that” while she focuses on competing.
Emma made history as the first-ever qualifier to win a major title at the US Open, and the first player in history to lift the trophy during their second appearance at Grand Slam level.
During her appearance on BBC Breakfast on Friday a young fan asked the star a rather direct question about her success.
Appearing on a video link, he cheekily asked: “I am just wondering what will you spend your prize money on?”
Naga laughed: “I tell you what, they are blunt, aren’t they? You can’t avoid those questions from children.”

Emma smiled: “I will just leave that to my parents and my team, to be honest. I am just focusing on what I love to do which is competing and they can take care of that.”
Naga explained she read that Emma had lost her wireless headphones recently and wondered if she was going to replace them if she “made a bit of money”.
The host asked Emma: “I was wondering if you picked some up when doing a bit of shopping in New York?”
Emma replied: “No I haven’t gone shopping yet. I lost them for sure and I am hoping to replace them sometime.”
