Gabby Petito listened to songs about heartache on Spotify before going missing: report

A series of songs about heartache and love appeared on missing Long Island native Gabby Pepito’s Spotify account — a day after her mother last heard from her.

“Your woman is your angel, is your left side, is your whole life; easily the most beautiful thing in the world,” Matt Berry’s “Woman” begins, according to Fox News.

“She’ll soothe you; she’ll accuse you; she’ll confuse you; she’ll lose you but always be the best friend you have in the world,” it continues.

The songs appeared on the “Mtn tops” playlist on Sept. 1, a day after the 22-year-old’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, last received texts from her daughter’s phone and 10 days before she reported her missing, according to the news outlet.

Petito apparently shared the Spotify account with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, who has been declared a person of interest in her disappearance.

Two other songs by the British singer also were reportedly added — “Take My Hand,” about picking a stranger up at a bar, and “The Badger’s Wake,” about the animal decomposing.

“The smell of a badger’s death in the ground leaves a mighty hole,” the lyrics say.

On Aug. 31, another song list called “Selfconsumption” was posted, according to Fox News.

Last year, Laundrie posted a cryptic message about Petito on Instagram, writing, “My biggest fear is that one day I’ll wake up and it will have all been a dream, because that is what every second has felt like since the moment we found each other.”

He added: “Til death do us part or until I wake up. I’m so happy the answer was yes. Love you hunny.”

Laundrie has refused to cooperate with authorities. His family said in a statement Tuesday that they would be “remaining in the background” as the investigation plays out.

Petito was reported missing on Sept. 11 by her mom, who said her daughter stopped contacting her family on her cross-country tour of national parks.

She was last seen in Wyoming late last month, but police in Moab, Utah, were called to a domestic “incident” involving the couple on Aug. 12, as they traversed the state in a van. No arrests were made and no charges were filed.

Two days later, a newlywed couple was found shot to death in nearby South Mesa after being seen at a bar in town the night before, according to Fox News. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet they aren’t “ruling out” a connection to the missing woman’s case.
