Britney Spears announces engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari: 'Can't believe it!'

Britney Spears, 39, and Sam Asghari are engaged! The singer, who has been embroiled in a tense legal battle to end her 13-year conservatorship, shared a video montage of her waving a gorgeous diamond ring as she and Sam looked over the moon.

Taking to Instagram to share the exciting content, she captioned the footage: “I can’t f*****g believe it!!!!” alongside a stream of ring emojis.

The news came as a huge surprise to fans who, just last week, were duped into thinking the pair were already engaged.

Sam was forced to confirm the rumours weren’t true on Friday last week, after pictures of what appeared to be engagement rings were posted to his Instagram story.

The ring featured a huge solitaire diamond, designed by New York City jewellers Forever Diamonds, was engraved with his nickname for Britney – “lioness” – which led fans to think the personal trainer had popped the question, or was planning to.

It seems to be good news after good news for the Toxic singer at the moment, whose dad Jamie Spears, recently backed her calls to end her conservatorship.

Her life had been controlled by her father until he stepped down as the head of the court order last month, and now Jamie has now filed a legal petition to Los Angeles Superior Court to end the controversial conservatorship, which has controlled the affairs of his daughter for over a decade since it was enacted in 2008.

The shocking turn of events saw him state that his daughter “is entitled” to have a judge “seriously consider” whether the arrangement is required.

The documents add that Britney’s circumstances have changed “to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist”.

“She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where and how often to get therapy,” they stated.

“She wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight.

“She wants to be able to get married and have a baby, if she so chooses.”

“In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding.”
