Coronation Street heartbreak for Kevin Webster as Abi breaks off engagement?

ITV soap fans have long been hoping to see a happy ending for Coronation Street couple Kevin Webster (played by Michael Le Vell) and Abi Franklin (Sally Carman). The pair are currently engaged to be married but have had a difficult year following the death of Abi’s son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni). On Friday night, viewers saw Abi devastated after hearing Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) was found not guilty of Seb’s murder. Could this heartbreaking news be too much for Abi to handle? And will she end up breaking off her engagement with Kevin as she struggles to cope with her emotions?

In recent weeks both Kelly Neelan (played by Millie Gibson) and Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) have been on trial for their roles in Seb’s death.

Back in May, Seb was killed after Corey and his friends beat him and his girlfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) in a shocking attack.

The murder trial came to a shocking conclusion on Friday night, with Kelly being found guilty while Corey was acquitted.

Viewers saw Abi struggle to deal with the trial’s devastating conclusion.

In a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other press, Abi actress Sally Carman opened up on what the future holds for her character.

The soap star hinted that it’ll be a bumpy road ahead for Abi and Kevin, following the result of the murder trial.

Sally revealed: “She leaves Kevin because she just can’t let it go, what’s happened.

“And she’s not quite sure what she’s gonna do or maybe she is but whatever she does, she knows she can’t involve Kevin and Jack – it wouldn’t be fair.

“She loves the bones of the pair of them, which is the reason actually ironically why she has to leave them.”

On Friday night’s episode, Abi opened up about her emotions following the result of the trial.

Chatting to Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo), Abi said: “Nothing matters. Nothing changes.

“You do a bad thing, there’s no consequences. Bonk your ex, leave your fella, take drugs, get drunk, kill someone,” she commented.

“You matter. Seb mattered,” Imran insisted, with Abi asking: “Then how can this happen?”

“Come on let me take you home, Kev will be worried,” Imran said, but Abi shook her head.

The grieving mother made it clear she didn’t want to return home and see her fiancé.

Imran said: “You loved Seb and nothing that happened before can undermine that.

“Come on, let me take you home,” the lawyer insisted.

Abi replied: “No, I can’t be indoors, I need space. I feel like if I go back there things will turn normal and I don’t want normal.
