Meghan McCain lands new job after ‘The View’ exit

Back on her daily grind.

Meghan McCain has found her first job post-“The View.” The daughter of late Arizona Sen. John McCain will be joining the Daily Mail as a columnist.

“Everything in my life these days is about going back to basics,” McCain, 36, tweeted on Thursday. “I started as a columnist & am thrilled at the chance to return to it @DailyMail. I am so excited to work in a completely uncensored free space.”

In a separate statement released Thursday, she explained, “I’ve been an avid reader of the website for many years and have been impressed by its global influence and reach. It truly is a juggernaut.”

She added: “I’ve always respected the way DailyMail.com tackles issues across the entire political spectrum and I’m looking forward to sharing my own opinions without fear or favor on the important issues that matter to our readers across the globe.”

The outlet’s publisher and Editor-in-Chief Martin Clarke echoed her sentiments and said that “Meghan’s column will be a space for her to have her uncensored say on the news of the day whether it be political, breaking news, showbiz or issues-based.”

He continued, “I’ve always been impressed with Meghan’s ability to generate discussion and debate and I look forward to her columns tackling what Americans are talking about.”

The former talk show host’s first penned article will be published on Sept. 20.

McCain decided to depart from “The View” in July after a four-season run and her last episode aired on Aug. 6. She revealed at the time she planned to move to Washington, DC, where her family is based with her husband, Ben Domenech, and their daughter, Liberty.

The ABC show, however, is in no rush to find a permanent replacement to fill her role. Instead, the series will have a rotating table of conservative female guest hosts. The show began its 25th season on Sept. 7.
