Art Metrano dead: Stand-up comedian and Police Academy star dies aged 84

Arthur Metrano was an American actor and comedian best known for his role as Ernie Mauser in Police Academy 2 and Police Academy 3. The film star has died at the age of 84. Harry told the Hollywood Reporter: “He was at the peak of his career when that happened, and then it just stopped, but he managed to enjoy life and overcome adversity.”

The actor died from natural causes at his home in Aventura, Florida on Wednesday.

Art also played Rico Mastorelli on the ABC sitcom Joanie Loves Chachi, a spinoff of Happy Days.

Harry also reflected on his dad’s injury after he fell from a ladder at his home in 1989.

The actor landed on his head and fractured his first, second and seventh vertebrae.

The accident left him Quadriplegia and in a wheelchair, but he remarkably recovered.

Art’s son added: “He was at the peak of his career when that happened, and then it just stopped.

“But he managed to enjoy life and overcome adversity.”
