A German drug dealer has been caught after falling asleep on his phone and accidentally dialling the police.

The control room operator could only hear snores and groaning when the call came in at around 1am on Saturday.

But unable to rule out an emergency, it was traced to a 23-year-old in the town of Waldbröl, about 30 miles east of Cologne, and officers were dispatched.

His astonished flatmate, 21, answered the door and the cops were greeted by the potent stench of cannabis, according to Bild.

The haul of drugs seized by the police included a sizeable amount of cannabis (pictured) as well as ecstasy tablets, cocaine and amphetamines

Police discovered the pocket dialler asleep on the sofa and when roused he had no idea why they were standing in front of him.

He insisted he had not summoned the officers until he checked his call history and found he had in fact called the emergency number several times.

Officers carried out a search of the property and discovered not just cannabis, but troves of other drugs and paraphernalia.

Police seized ecstasy tablets, cocaine, amphetamines, scales and cash.

‘It is not a small amount. Both men are suspected of having dealt,’ a police spokesman said.

The pair had previously been arrested for dealing narcotics and are now facing criminal proceedings.

They were bailed pending further investigations.
