A Place In The Sun's Scarlette spills on off-camera mishap her boss 'hates' her mentioning

A Place In The Sun star Scarlette Douglas revealed that while she has been lucky enough to avoid any filming mishaps, she did witness her producer and director sinking in sand on a beach they had misjudged. Speaking to Express.co.uk ahead of Channel 4’s Black to Front day, the 32-year-old said the moment was one of her “funniest” on set so far.

She spilled: “We decided that we were going to film an opening chat at the area, which from far away looked like a beach.

“When we got there, there was lots of dry seaweed.

“It was pretty much quicksand and we didn’t realise.

“And then he went to set up the camera and before you know it, he was screaming.

“He had sunk in, up to his torso!

“He was holding the camera up and we were like, ‘Oh My God!’ I started laughing, I got my phone out to film it.

“The camera guy grabbed the camera and just walked away and he was left there like, ‘Is anyone going to help me out?’

Scarlette added that the director “hates” that she brings it up all the time.

She said: “I’m not sure exactly how it works, but even if it does mean that, I’m doing so many other things at the moment, that it would kind of work out well because everything will be spaced out equally with all my other shows as well.”

Next month, Scarlette and her brother Stuart Douglas will be stepping into Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer’s shoes for a special episode of Love it or List it.

The pair will host the Channel 4 show as part of the broadcaster’s Black to Front day, a diversity project which will air on September 10.

Scarlette and Stuart will be helping homeowners decide whether it’s time to renovate their properties or sell up.
