Genshin Impact Maintenance time: How long are servers down for update 2.1?

Plenty of exciting stuff is being planned for the popular free-to-play RPG this week, but first, there needs to be some Genshin Impact maintenance.

The bad news is that Genshin servers will be offline for an extended period, which will end with the launch of update 2.1.

The good news is that plenty of new content and features will be available to those who log in after the dust has settled.

This includes new characters, with the Baal Banner set to kick off as soon as servers are back online.

Baal is an Electro Archon who will be joined by Sara, a ranged attacker who could prove very popular as a new squad member.

And after this Banner ends, the 4-star character Sara will be available in the standard wish “Wanderlust Invocation” in Version 2.2.

A message from Mihoyo adds: “During this event wish, the event-exclusive 5-star character “Plane of Euthymia” Raiden Shogun (Electro) will receive a huge drop-rate boost.

“During this event wish, the 4-star characters “Crowfeather Kaburaya” Kujou Sara (Electro), “Exquisite Delicacy” Xiangling (Pyro), and “Harmless Sweetie” Sucrose (Anemo) will receive a huge drop-rate boost.”

The new characters are always the main draw but Mihoyo has also promised new islands to explore, and some new fishing mechanics to enjoy.

The fish caught can not only be used to make dishes, but also can be exchanged for precious treasures at the Fishing Association. There’s even a chance to catch vibrant ornamental fish to admire at your home.

To unlock this new feature, gamers will need to Unlock the Serenitea Pot System and complete the quest “Exploding Population”.

To make it easier for Travelers to record the locations of Fishing Points, a pin for indicating Fishing Points has been added to the map, and travelers can place the pins as needed.

But before any of this new stuff can be enjoyed, gamers will have to sit through a lengthy maintenance period.

WHAT TIME DOES GENSHIN IMPACT MAINTENANCE START?

The official Genshin Impact maintenance time has been set for 11pm BST on Tuesday, August 31.

Server downtime is expected to last for around five hours and will end with the release of Genshin 2.1.

However, it should be noted that due to the late nature of the launch, the new update will become playable on September 1 in the UK.

Mihoyo is also offering maintenance compensation of 300 Primogems for each player after everything has been completed.

This is set at an hourly rate so changes could be applied if the maintenance schedule is changed in the coming hours.

After maintenance has finished, Genshin Impact 2.1 will launch on Wednesday, September 1, with the Genshin 2.1 release time set for 4am BST.

For gamers in North America, the new Genshin update will be available to download at 8pm PDT on August 31.

Another big part of the new Genshin expansion is the launch of Aloy on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

Aloy, the legendary Nora Huntress from Horizon Zero Dawn, answers the call of adventure in Teyvat and embarks on an all-new journey this week.

If you reach Adventure Rank 20 or above during the Version 2.1 and Version 2.2 updates, you’ll receive the five-star crossover character “Savior From Another World” Aloy and her four-star bow Predator via in-game mail when you log into Genshin Impact on PS4 or PS5.
