Talking Cookbooks With Adeena Sussman

Asif: Culinary Institute of Israel, a new food-focused cultural center with a library, test kitchen, rooftop farm, gallery and cafe, opened last month in Tel Aviv. It’s the work of Naama Shefi, who created and runs the nonprofit Jewish Food Society in the United States to foster Jewish food culture, and Terry Kassel, chairwoman of the board of Start-Up Nation Central, an Israeli nonprofit promoting innovation. For one of its first programs, the cookbook author Adeena Sussman will discuss food for the Rosh Hashana holiday and suggest recipes from cookbooks she wants to see in Asif’s library.

“Flavors from the Library,” Sept. 1, noon to 1 p.m., $5, asif.org/events.
