Jets cornerbacks have rough day against the Eagles

Three takeaways from the Jets’ 31-31 tie with the Eagles their preseason finale on Friday night.

1. The cornerbacks had a rough night. You could write it off as the problems being mostly when backups were on the field, but chances are the Jets will need those backups to play this season. Joe Flacco caught rookie Isaiah Dunn with his back turned and beat him for a touchdown pass. The Jets’ young cornerbacks will be a major story this season.

2. The Eagles had some big running lanes against the Jets’ defense. The Jets did not have Quinnen Williams and Sheldon Rankins in the middle, so it is not a reason to panic, but for the second straight week, the defense gave an opponent some big running lanes.

3. The preseason is over, let’s all be thankful for that. The Jets had a productive training camp, but the injury to defensive end Carl Lawson will loom large over their season and could be the most meaningful development of the summer.
