Man City 'decide to pay £25m Juventus asking price' to seal Cristiano Ronaldo transfer

Manchester City have now reportedly decided they are ready to pay the £25million transfer fee it would take to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus. The Portuguese superstar is understood to have already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions ahead of a sensational return to England, that could ultimately tarnish his legacy at Manchester United.

Jorge Mendes presented City with the chance to sign Ronaldo earlier this week but the approach was rebuffed as the club continued to focus their efforts on landing Harry Kane.

Ronaldo had asked Juventus to start on the bench last Sunday in the 2-2 draw at Udinese, outlining his desire to leave the club and pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

In the meantime, super-agent Mendes has continued to work away on finding Ronaldo a new club in the background and now he could be about to strike gold.

Mendes reignited talks with City after England captain Kane confirmed he will be staying at Tottenham for another season earlier this week.

It’s claimed City are now actively trying to offload players in order to facilitate the move and make their wage books sustainable.

Raheem Sterling is one of the stars who could depart with Juventus thought to be keen on signing the England international.

Mendes is also marketing Bernardo Silva but he is yet to find a suitor for the tricky attacking midfielder.

Gabriel Jesus will stay at the club though despite links to Juventus in the Italian press.

Ronaldo is already understood to have spoken with Guardiola to discuss his role at City. This would be the first time the pair have linked up together in their careers.

It’s reported in Portugal that CR7 was unsure about crossing the Manchester divide, following the likes of Peter Schmeichel and former team-mate Carlos Tevez, but Mendes has convinced him to sign for City.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was forced to deny rumours Ronaldo could return to the Spanish giants only last week as Ronaldo also issued a statement.

Los Blancos will now go ahead with the signing of Kylian Mbappe for a staggering £138m, sparking the suggestion PSG could move for Ronaldo if his transfer to City fails to materialise.
