Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham as Daniel Levy wins £150m Man City transfer battle

Harry Kane has accepted that he will stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer transfer window, ending hopes of a move to Manchester City. Kane has been heavily linked with a Tottenham exit in recent months but now looks set to remain in north London this season.

Kane’s uncertain future has been the transfer saga of the summer, but it looks to be soon ending in frustration for the Premier League champions.

He was undoubtedly Pep Guardiola’s number one target in the current window, but the Catalan boss may have to turn his attention elsewhere.

Man City were willing to splash £150million to sign the 28-year-old, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has held firm on his not-for-sale stance.

With Levy’s stubborn approach to talks leaving a move to City out of the question, Kane is now looking to the campaign ahead with Spurs.

The Daily Mail suggest Guardiola could make Haaland his primary striker target ahead of his expected Borussia Dortmund exit next summer.

Man City are yet to replace Sergio Aguero and are now at risk of spending the new campaign with just one natural first-team striker – Gabriel Jesus.

Guardiola has used Ferran Torres as a false nine in both of City’s opening Premier League games and could continue to do so.

With Kevin De Bruyne still to return from injury, the Belgian star could fulfil the role with Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan in the midfield spots behind him.
