Arsenal may have missed out on their own Romelu Lukaku with Tammy Abraham transfer failure

Nothing was sticking up front for Mikel Arteta’s men; with main men Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both not starting yet again, Gabriel Martinelli started at centre-forward – and struggled heavily against Chelsea’s five-man defence.

Yet, for Chelsea, the presence of Lukaku was definitely felt. The Belgian was winning almost all of his tussles against Rob Holding and Pablo Mari – who both picked up yellow cards in their battle against Lukaku.

It begs the question, could Abraham have given Arsenal a Lukaku-esque presence, had he signed for the Gunners?

With someone to hold the ball up, Arsenal could have regrouped and pushed higher up the field as a unit – not only creating chances for themselves, but reducing Chelsea to becoming camped in their own half too.
