In the video, Walsh makes numerous false statements while addressing the Board of Education, including that COVID poses ‘almost no risk to our kids at all’ with ‘only .008’ deaths out of more than four million child cases.

He noted that making children wear masks can be classified as ‘child abuse,’ with rounds of applause from the parents attending the meeting.

‘What if a parent forced his kid to wear a football helmet all day everyday, for fear of falling coconuts and meteors?’ he tried to argue. ‘If you saw that, you would say he’s abusive.’

He continued to criticize the school board for ‘teaching them that the air is toxic, that everyone around them is sick.’

Nearly 1,000 Nashville students and staff are under quarantine or isolation on Tuesday following the city’s first week of school.

Data from the Student Health Service department between August 9 through 15 revealed there were 207 confirmed positive coronavirus cases among students and 52 confirmed staff positive cases.

More than 31,000 cases and 142 new deaths have been reported in Tennessee in the past week, with a test positivity rate of 21.94%, according to John’s Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

The CDC reported: ‘Masks are primarily intended to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets (“source control”), which is especially relevant for asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware of their infectiousness to others, and who are estimated to account for more than 50% of transmissions.’
