Dick Farrel dead: Anti-vax radio host said ‘I wish I got it’ before dying of Covid

Anti-vax radio host Dick Farrel, 65, died of Covid on August 4. He had urged his listeners not to get vaccinated and was a critic of Dr Anthony Fauci, Chief of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

Mr Farrel said Dr Fauci was a “power-tripping lying freak” who conspired with “power trip libb loons”. He also said in a Facebook post in June: “So, you think it wasn’t a SCAM DEMIC? NOT ONE ELECTED DEMOCRAT ever tested positive.”

Last month, he said of the vaccine: “Why take a vax promoted by people who lied to you all along about masks?”

Friends said that after contracting the virus, Mr Farrel changed his point of view.

Dick Farrel had his own radio talk show in Florida and previously worked as a Newsmax fill-in TV host in 2018.

Mr Farrel’s partner Kit Farley wrote on Facebook: “He fought like a tiger. Please don’t put off getting attention for this illness. Yes, for some it has minimal effects, but others it is deadly.

“He was known as the other Rush Limbaugh. With a heavy heart, I can only say this was so unexpected. He will be missed.”

Mick McCabe, creative director of the radio broadcaster Hubbard South Florida, told WPTV: “Dick was a pioneer ‘shock talk’ host, certainly here in South Florida, and a loyal friend both personally and to listeners here for decades.”
