Meanwhile, Spurs have already completed the signings of winger Bryan Gil and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, the latter also from Atalanta, since the beginning of the summer window.
It remains to be seen whether another centre-back will be snapped up on top of Romero, with Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu also believed to be on Tottenham’s radar.
