As quarantine and testing requirements have forced many people to rethink foreign holiday plans, caravan and motorhomes have seen a major surge in popularity. According to Paul Meton and Suki Webster in their new home, motorhomes allow “flexibility, freedom and gorgeous views all around.”
In the first episode of Motorhoming with Merton and Webster, on Channel 5, the couple were left “delighted” by the features on offer from their £300-a-day motorhome rental.
The motorhome, which the couple collected from the Canterbury Camping and Caravan Club, offered plenty of home comforts.
However, it was when the sunset that they discovered the greatest “surprise”.
Paul recounted: “At the end of a long and lovely day, Suki has a surprise in store.”
Upon turning out the lights in the double, master bedroom, Paul and Suki discovered something magical on the ceiling.

The motorhome, which is eligible to be driven by anyone with a full driving license, offers all the comforts of home combined with the freedom of the open road.
“For around £300 a day you get a motor home with fitted kitchen, shower, bed, and most importantly a room with a different view every time you park,” said Paul.
Suki was particularly pleased with the amount of standing space in the vehicle.
She also commended the “good kitchen”, with an oven she was “not expecting.”
Paul pointed out that not only did it come with a typical hob, but also an oven and grill.
The bathroom, with a standup shower, also came fully stocked with plenty of extras.
As Suki pointed out: “There’s a lot of toilet roll. It is like early lockdown, where somebody has gone big on the toiler toll.”
Paul, meanwhile, was pleased with the size of the bedroom which he notes were bigger than a bedsit he lived in during the 1980s.
“It didn’t even have a loo inside either,” he added.
Along with areas to cook, dine and relax, the motorhome also has plenty of storage space.
“On our budget, you get lots of room with space-saving features,” said Suki.
The good news is, the driving experience was also equally as smooth – even for first time motorhome commandeer Suki.
Though Paul noted the experience was likely to be “nerve-racking”, the couple did a good job navigating their journey around the British Isles.
“It feels good [to drive] actually,” said Suki.
“It’s so automatic.”
