Texas horror crash: 10 dead and 13 injured after van carrying illegal migrants flips

The incident took place on a remote highway south of Enrico in Brooks County shortly before 11pm GMT. A further 13 people have been left injured following the horrific crash.

Speaking to KRGV, Benny Martinez, the Brooks County Sheriff, confirmed the van was carrying as many as 25 undocumented migrants.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) initially reported 11 had been killed in the incident but has since revised the number of dead to 10, according to Fox News.

They also believe there could have been as many as 30 people in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle is also reported to be among the deceased.

The cause of the crash is still unknown but reports have indicated the van was not involved in a pursuit prior to the incident.

In a tweet, Fox News journalist, Bill Melugin, wrote the van “veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole on US 281 in Encino, Brooks County.”

The crash site is approximately 80 miles north of the Texas Mexico border.
