At least three people have been injured in a Swedish shooting in broad daylight. 

A ‘large police operation’ is underway on Kristianstad after multiple gunshots were heard at 3.40pm. 

Police said three people have been hospitalised with gunshot wounds after ambulances rushed to the scene in the Nasby district.

A police cordon is in place with investigations ongoing.

Rickard Lundqvist, a police spokesman, said police were on their way after reports of the loud bangs when it was confirmed it was a shooting.

He said: ‘Several people have been found in various places in the area with suspected gunshot wounds.’ 

Witnesses said the cordoned off crime scene is next to a shopping mall. 

Nasby has been classified by police as a vulnerable area with a number of recent riots and murders in the district.
