To this day Elvis Presley’s Graceland upstairs is off-limits to the public on tours. Aside from Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie, only a few people who preserve those rooms just as The King left them in 1977 are allowed up there. The reason is, the upstairs was Elvis’ private space in life and so will remain so in his death out of respect.
Nevertheless, there are former girlfriends and Memphis Mafia members who sometimes share stories of spending time with Elvis Presley up there in his bedroom.
In a new fan Q&A on the Memphis Mafia Kid YouTube channel, The King’s cousin Billy Smith and his wife Jo were asked if Elvis ever spoke to his own reflection.
Billy began by joking that he did before confirming the star did not, except maybe for shadow boxing or karate.
However, his wife then shared a pretty hilarious story about Elvis in his bedroom involving his huge bed and mirror.

Jo said: “I’ll tell you something he did do, he would get up on his bed and walk back and forth and look in that mirror at himself as he walked.
“He would look in the mirror while talking to us and one night he was prancing across there.
“And he stopped [looking at himself] and he said, ‘Damn, you’re a good lookin’ son of b****.’”
While in another video the couple and their son Danny were asked if Elvis liked his bedroom cold and dark.
Elvis’ former girlfriend Linda Thompson shared last year on her Instagram account what The King’s upstairs bedroom was like.
She replied to a fan in the comments section: “Our bedroom was black, red and gold… And no – the windows were never opened.”
Tragically, it was on August 16, 1977 that Elvis would die in the bathroom next to his bedroom.
The star was discovered by his final girlfriend Ginger Alden to have had a heart attack while on the toilet.
In just a couple of weeks time, Graceland will hold Elvis Week around the 44th anniversary of The King’s death.
This will include virtual and physical events fans can take part in, celebrating the star’s legacy.
While his ex-wife Priscilla Presley and TCB band guitarist James Burton will be involved in interviews.
And the usual candlelit vigil up to Elvis’ grave in the Meditation Garden will be an annual highlight.
