A stylish new superyacht boasting a beach club and six bedrooms for a family to ‘live at sea’ has been launched in Turkey.

The 180ft long Al Waab II is the longest steel and aluminium yacht below 500 gross tonnes ever built, according to its builders Alia Yachts.

Vessels above a volume of 500GT are subject to additional regulations, and many owners and designers want as long a yacht as possible while staying under the limit.

The yacht, which can sleep 12 people, benefits from its minimalist design which makes the most of its outside space and emphasises the hull, keeping its gross tonnage low while maximising its size.

It is also decked out with floor-to-ceiling windows, a split-level master bedroom on the upper deck and a sprawling beach club with direct access to the water.

Al Waab II, designed by Vripack, is also the first superyacht to be launched from Alia Yachts’ 2,000-tonne capacity ship lift in Antalya, Turkey.

The company’s president Gokhan Celik told Forbes: ‘We’re very proud of Al Waab II. We believe it is the longest steel and aluminum yacht below 500GT in the world, setting a new standard in external & internal volumes offered to a client in this category.

‘Yachts are getting longer and wider, but owners still want to stay below the 500 Gross Ton benchmark. We’ve seen increasing interest in this kind of yacht and so to be one of the first with such an impressive project is an important milestone for Alia.’

He said: ‘For many owners, the concept of enjoying a “home at sea” is what drives their passion for yachting.

‘The owner of Al Waab II had the explicit desire to use his boat as a family apartment. That desire became the founding principle of the entire design. The result is the very essence of living on the water.’
